The most famous Artificial Intelligence robot will be present on April 26th and 27th at the Central Macedonia Region's booth.
A special surprise directly from the future awaits this year at the International Exhibition of Digital Transformation, Technology, and Innovation BEYOND (April 25-27), as it welcomes Sophia the Robot, the world’s most famous Artificial Intelligence (AI) robot, on Friday, April 26th. Τhe Thessaloniki International Exhibition Centre will host the event, where Sophia will be introduced to the public by TIF-HELEXPO and the Central Macedonia Region, showcasing her incredible capabilities.
Visitors to this year’s event will have the opportunity to meet and take photos with Sophia the Robot, who will be at the Central Macedonia Region’s stand at BEYOND on Friday, April 26th, and Saturday, April 27th. In addition to interacting with the audience, Sophia will participate in a discussion on Friday, April 26th, at 11:30 a.m., in the presence of the Regional Governor of Central Macedonia, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, and Dr. Michalis Bletsas, Researcher & Director of Computational Systems at the MIT Media Lab – Head of the National Cybersecurity Authority. Sophia will also take part in the largest Artificial Intelligence conference in Greece, organized as part of BEYOND.
Sophia is the first “social robot,” capable of mimicking social behavior and evoking feelings of affection in people. Through cutting-edge technology, she learns continuously from her interactions with humans, can mimic gestures, and has over 60 facial expressions, from smiles to frowns. Notably, Sophia knows when to use appropriate expressions without being programmed, demonstrating her ability to learn and evolve over time. She improves her interaction through every mistake she makes, as her brain is an advanced AI technological platform, allowing her to evolve through experience. Moreover, she can answer certain questions and engage in simple conversations on predefined topics (e.g., weather).
She speaks flawlessly in 20 languages, including Greek, and her IQ is higher than Einstein’s. Created in 2016, she received Saudi Arabian citizenship a year later, becoming the first robot to obtain legal personhood in any country. In 2017, Sophia became the first non-human to be named Innovation Champion by the United Nations Development Programme.
Designed to be a helpful member of society, Sophia aims to be a suitable companion for the elderly in nursing homes, assist crowds at large events, museums, and parks, or serve in customer service, therapy, educational applications, and academic research. Her goal is to achieve artificial wisdom; after all, her name comes from the word philosophy, meaning love for wisdom.
Sophia couldn’t be absent from this year’s BEYOND, where the revolution of Artificial Intelligence will be a central theme, thoroughly analyzed through its role and impacts on our daily lives.
